Do I have to pay or commit to anything to join?

No. The waitlist is free, we never ask for a card, and joining commits you to nothing — not a listing, not a rental. You can leave the list with one click in any email we send.

Is it safe to rent baby gear from a stranger?

That's the question the whole product is designed around. Every lister will be a verified account with a real name, a public lending score, and reviews from other moms. Every item gets photographed and approved before it can list. And every rental carries a deposit held in escrow — so both sides have something at stake and a photo record to point at.

What happens if I damage something?

Normal wear is expected and fine — a scuff on a stroller frame is not a damage claim. If something real happens, we compare the listing photos to the return photos and assess a fair charge against the item's stated replacement value, up to the deposit amount. You'll see the item's deposit and replacement value before you book.

Why not car seats or breast pumps?

Deliberately. Car seats have crash histories you can't see, pumps and helmets carry hygiene and fit-safety issues, and none of that can be verified by a photo. We'd rather leave money on the table than pretend we can inspect a car seat's past.

What does it cost to list?

Nothing to list. BayBe Market takes 12% of a completed transaction — and founding members pay zero fees for their first three months. You set your own rates, deposit, and availability.

When does the Orange County pilot actually open?

We're targeting to open Fall 2026.

Can I both rent and list?

That's the loop the whole thing is built around — rent the bassinet for four months, then list it when you're done with it. Pick both on the form and we'll set you up for either side.
